ARS 101 Art from Prehistory Through Middle Ages

This course provides a comprehensive chronological survey of Western art and architecture from the Paleolithic period through the Middle Ages. Students explore major stylistic developments across a diverse range of mediums, including painting, sculpture, monumental architecture, and minor arts. Through the examination of iconic masterpieces and archaeological artifacts, the course emphasizes understanding visual culture within its cultural, political, and spiritual contexts.
